Further Mathematics

Choose a subject

“Pure mathematics is in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” - Albert Einstein.

At school, the Maths curriculum ensures that students use reason to adopt a logical approach to solving challenging questions; developing skills that are called upon in everyday life. Through our Maths curriculum and as part of our future pathway programme, unique to Langton, we foster a lifelong appreciation of the part mathematics plays in developing skills that can be applied across a wide range of fields where students learn that Maths can also, for example, be a creative subject; exploring patterns and finding solutions to complex problems.

From the start of their Langton journey in Year 7, students become self-assured mathematicians; our curriculum and extensive support build confidence and ensure that a significant number of students opt to study mathematics at A Level. Teaching mathematical literacy at Langton also means that students cultivate essential 21st century cognitive abilities and sought after graduate skills which our students draw upon to decode a data driven society and access prestigious universities and careers. By the end of their Langton journey our students have experienced the immense satisfaction of successful problem solving and understand that the study of mathematics has equipped them to pursue both their personal and academic ambitions.
